Free Healthy Lunch Experience

NutriSmaak’s mission is to provide nutrition-rich food to children in schools. Visit our homepage to learn more about why it’s necessary.

The Free Healthy Lunch Experience is a program run by NutriSmaak in collaboration with partner schools. As part of this program, around 30 students from participating schools receive a free, healthy, freshly prepared lunch once a week for four weeks. There is no cost to either the parents or the school, as the program is fully sponsored by NutriSmaak.

Through close collaboration with the school and parents, this pilot program introduces nutritious meals and helps us understand children’s interest in healthy food. We collect feedback during the program to measure key performance indicators (KPIs).

At the end of the program, parents or schools can opt to continue the healthy food program through our paid service, with no obligation to sign up.

We do not share any child-specific information publicly without prior consent from both the school and the parents.

Key Performance Indicators that we measure

As part of the program, we monitor and assess the following key performance indicators (KPIs):

1. To evaluate the program’s impact on student attendance, we request that the school share the weekday with the lowest attendance. During the program, anonymized data will be used to measure its effect.
2. Assessment of children’s interest in vegetarian meals, based on feedback and leftover food.
3. Improvement in children’s nutritional knowledge.
4. Children’s satisfaction and happiness with the healthy meal program.
5. Behavioral changes observed in children by the school as a result of the program.

Participation Requirements

1. The program is open to primary schools located in Almere. We aim to run the program with two schools before the 2026 summer holidays.
2. Parents or schools can contact us if there is interest from a maximum of 30 children from the same school, and preferably from the same class.
3. The school will support the NutriSmaak representative in food distribution, presenting educational materials on nutrition to children, and gathering honest feedback. NutriSmaak will provide all necessary support for the program. We also highly appreciate two parents volunteering to support this initiative.
4. By participating, parents and schools agree to provide the requested information to help measure the program’s KPIs.
5. Children should not have any food allergies or dietary restrictions
6. NutriSmaak will confirm the schedule and feasibility of running the program at the school.
